My name is Brandon Vogt, and I’m a 25-year old Catholic who loves to read and enjoys having written.
I've been featured by several media outlets including NPR, FoxNews, EWTN television, Our Sunday Visitor, Christianity Today, EWTN Radio, and Relevant Radio.
I've been featured by several media outlets including NPR, FoxNews, EWTN television, Our Sunday Visitor, Christianity Today, EWTN Radio, and Relevant Radio.
I'm also the author of The Church and New Media: Blogging Converts, Online Activists, and Bishops who Tweet, a book released in August 2011 by Our Sunday Visitor.
The Thin Veil is a collection of articles, media, and links revolving around God and his Church. I write on theology, spirituality, technology, social-justice, and a heavy dose of all things literary—especially book reviews and recommendations.
I typically post 5-7 times each week, so subscribe via feed reader or email to get the newest posts. Also, be sure to check back each Friday for a chance to win the weekly giveaway.
The blog’s name comes from ancient descriptions of certain places as ‘thin’ or as ‘thin veils’. In those places, early people believed that the divine and the ordinary kissed. There the barrier between the material world and the spiritual world was blurred. Most of these people were pagan, but I love that way of viewing the world and think it hints at the Christian view.
Through this blog I seek to push through our modern veils, veils that separate, dampen, and divide. I want to demolish the veils between the ordinary and the divine, between sterility and saintliness, between the Church and technology.
"On the mountain He will destroy the veil that veils all peoples." - Isaiah 25:7
